Welcome to my little corner of the web! I've been interested in computers since I was twelve (that was in...well...a long time ago) and have owned at least one computer since I was eighteen. With such a fine computer nerd history, it's no wonder I'm on the Web. I ran a bulletin board system, Mom's BBS, from 1987 to 1995. There's a rather sparsely populated LiveJournal Community for it here. When the hard drive failed for the fourth time and I realized that I was relieved, I gave up on the concept of running my own board.
As far as the real part of my life, I live in Denver with my spouse, Doug Peterson (an individual with diverse talents); my daughter, Alyria Rose; our housemate Kent; and our critters. I have a large extended "chosen" family in addition to my blood relations.
I no longer am able to work for a living, thanks to mental and physical disabilities,
and am starting a blog for my disability issues and disability issues in general.
I'll link to it when it's up and running. What disabilities? Well, Major Depression,
Anxiety, and PTSD on the brain side, and Arthritis, high blood pressure, and
Peripheral Neuropathy on the physical side. I use a wheelchair "part time" (read:
when I'm not in the house) and am trying to save for a scooter
as well as a hoist to put it in the back of my 1996 Ford Explorer.
The Boulder Pledge:
Under no circumstances will I ever purchase ANYTHING offered to me as the result of an unsolicited e-mail message. Nor will I forward chain letters, petitions, mass mailings or virus warnings to large numbers of others. This is my contribution to the survival of the online community.
